28 Years Later, the long-awaited sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later and first entry into a brand new trilogy, gets a first poster today via Sony Pictures ahead of its release on June 20, 2025.
Uniting director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland once again, 28 Years Later stars Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Jack O'Connell and Erin Kellyman.
28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy is also set to return to his role as Jim, a bicycle courier who woke up in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by infected zombie-like humans. Murphy is also executive producing.
In a previous interview with IndieWire, Fiennes revealed some brand new plot points of 28 Years Later:
Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. And it centers on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother.
He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is a man we might think is going to be weird and odd, but actually is a force for good.
As mentioned, 28 Years Later marks the start of an entire new trilogy, the second of which, reportedly titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, is directed by Candyman‘s Nia DaCosta. No news yet on the third entry, or who will direct.
As opposed to the original movie's humble $8 million budget, 28 Years Later was working with a significant increase of $75 million – and was apparently shot on an iPhone 15.
Check out the new poster below and we'll bring you more updates on 28 Years Later as we get them.
