Monster lovers rejoice, you’re getting your very own theme park! It’s just been announced that a Dracula-themed vacation destination is being built in Bucharest, Romania, home to the origins of the vampire myth, with plans to offer immersive experiences that’ll put you face to face with the most memorable monster of them all.
The massive attraction, which could open as early as 2027, will stand in the perfect location for tourists, only twenty minutes from Bucharest’s city center and fifteen from its international airport, allowing visitors to land and instantly be swept up in the mystery and majesty of Dracula.
Six different themed lands, similar to those in parks like Universal Studios, will allow guests to traverse through mysterious and magical experiences all tied to vampires, all designed by former Europa Park creative director Chris Lange. Sections include Transylvania, which will feature a traditional village and forest; Dracula’s Castle, complete with ruins and a lake; The Family Kingdom, where a diverse group of vampires and other creatures reside; London Town, a supernatural recreation of Victorian London; and Port of New Orleans, welcoming visitors into a raucous Mardi Gras celebration.

”For me, Dracula Land is a national project – a symbol that Romania can and must build landmarks, not just buildings or simple real estate projects,” said Dragoș Dobrescu, founder of Dracula Land. The theme park venture is reportedly worth over a billion Euros, or $1.2 billion USD, and according to the park’s official website, should generate over 5,000 jobs for local residents, in tourism, technology, and services.
But Dracula Land isn’t the end of the planned vampiric tourism. Also in the works are three different Dracula-themed hotels with over 1,200 rooms, as well as a water park, thermal spa, race track, luxury shopping, and an arena for concerts, festivals, and other events, though no opening dates have been revealed for those. Looks like Drac is putting all that old world money to use!

This obviously isn't the first time we've seen monsters make an appearance in a theme park. Just this year, Universal Studios opened Epic Universe in Florida, featuring Dark Universe, an entire land dedicated to their iconic monsters, including Dracula himself. Though this marks maybe the first time the vampire to end all vampires has gotten an entire park all to himself — who's to say the Wolf Man won't follow soon after?
Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more details on Dracula Land as they arrive.
