After a massively successful release in France that’s left international fans clambering to see it, Luc Besson’s new vampire film has finally set a US release date. Vertical has announced that Dracula: A Love Tale will hit theaters in February, celebrating with an all-new trailer that gives us a quick glimpse into the film’s heartbreaking Gothic romance.
Based on Bram Stoker’s beloved novel, Dracula: A Love Tale stars Caleb Landry Jones as the titular vampire, a fifteenth-century prince who denounces God after the death of his wife. In doing so, he inherits the eternal curse of vampirism, and condemned to wander the centuries, he defies fate and death itself, guided by a single hope — to be reunited with his lost love. The film also stars Christoph Waltz and Zoë Bleu.
“This film is very close to my heart and has been a joy to create over the past two years,” Besson said. “At its core, it’s a love story—Dracula seen in a different light, as a man searching for his lost love over 400 years. It’s been incredible to see audiences connect with it around the world, and I’m thrilled to partner with Vertical to bring this story to North American audiences.”
Dracula: A Love Tale reunites Besson with production designer Hugues Tissandier and costume designer Corinne Bruand, both of whom worked with him on DogMan, which also starred Landry Jones. The film also features music by Danny Elfman, and is produced by Mark Canton, Dorothy Canton, Ryan Winterstern and Philippe Corrot.
“Luc is a singular visionary and his elevated take on the Dracula story is something only he could imagine,” said Vertical partner Peter Jarowey. “We are thrilled to be working with such a major creative entity and are proud to be bringing this film to North American audiences.”
