There’s just no stopping Adam Cesare. First, we revealed the cover for the rerelease of his novel Video Night, and now he’s got another book on the way. FANGORIA is excited to reveal the cover for Zero Lives Remaining, a nostalgic haunted-house-meets-arcade story that readers can get their hands on this fall.
Featuring cover art by Marc Schoenbach and an audiobook narrated by Chelsea Rebecca, Zero Lives Remaining hits shelves in September, arriving just in time for readers to start their Halloween preparations. The novella’s synopsis is as follows:
It’s 1989, and Robby Asaro is making FunCave Arcade’s pizzas when his sleeve is caught on the pizza oven conveyor belt, and he dies a brutal death. But that wasn’t the end for Robby, who is now a friendly ghost watching over the gamers of the arcade.
Fast forward to 2014, and this retro video arcade is still going strong as teens flock to both the new games on the main floor and the old classics on the second. What they don’t know is that FunCave is now haunted by the man who died there in the 1980s. Robby cares about the regulars, especially Tiffany Park. When Robby tries to protect Tiffany from a bully, his first kill has unintended consequences as he absorbs his victim’s hate and rage. He can’t help what he does next as more bodies pile up and the patrons of the arcade are trapped inside.

Cesare is probably best known for his Clown in a Cornfield slasher series, the first of which was adapted into a film last year by RLJE Films and Shudder. The series currently consists of four books, the latest of which — Clown In A Cornfield #4: Lights! Camera! Frendo! — hits shelves this August.
He also has two other books arriving this fall, with Mercy House and Video Night being republished from his back catalogue by Hachette Book Group, complete with new covers.
Zero Lives Remaining hits shelves on September 1. You can pre-order a copy now wherever you get your books, or grab a signed copy from Cesare’s local bookstore, Children’s Book World.
