With the untitled Blair Witch movie getting an official September 2027 release date, we now have 11 new horror movies with confirmed 2027 release dates. There are other soft 2027 holds floating around (and a lot of rumors), but the movies listed below have solid dates officially announced and confirmed by the studios. Next year is already looking like another banner year for the genre.
We are truly living in the midst of a horror renaissance, with an abundance of quality original movies that have even gained recognition among casual horror audiences (and big fancy awards shows) in the last several years. And even the folks who “don’t like horror movies” have happily parked their butts in theater seats for the likes of Obsession, Backrooms, Weapons, and Sinners. Fine by me! When horror wins, we all win.
Of course, the dates below may shift on the calendar as we get closer, but so far, these are confirmed as locked-in release dates for next year. If 2027 horror releases feel too far away, don’t fret. We have Evil Dead Burn dropping in theaters this July (and on our Summer FANGORIA subscriber cover) and a seriously overwhelming amount of new horror movies releasing in August.

To see what we have to look forward to next year, take a look below!

Remain - February 5, 2027
M. Night Shyamalan has joined forces with an unexpected collaborator – Nicholas Sparks. Yes, that Nicholas Sparks, as in The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, famed romance novelist.
Shyamalan and Sparks co-authored a New York Times bestselling novel, and now they’re bringing it to the big screen with Shyamalan in the director’s chair. The story is described as a supernatural romance that veers into horror territory. The upcoming screen adaptation stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor.
Remain is in theaters February 5, 2027 just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Mike Flanagan's Exorcist - March 12, 2027
Mike Flanagan’s take on The Exorcist will see frequent Flanagan (Flanaverse) collaborators join Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, Diane Lane, Jacobi Jupe, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
As of now, 11 of Flanagan’s previous collaborators have been cast in the upcoming movie, which is not a sequel to David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist: Believer from 2023. Plot details have not been released yet, but we do know Johansson will allegedly be playing Jupe’s mother. We can’t wait to see what Flanagan and Co. have in store. Flanagan’s Exorcist is slated for release March 12, 2027.
Godzilla X Kong: Supernova - March 26, 2027
GODZILLA X KONG: SUPERNOVA The Monsterverse continues with this follow-up to 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) will be in the director’s chair this time around (Adam Wingard directed the last two installments).
Dan Stevens reprises his role as Trapper; he’ll be joined by Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Sam Neill for the sixth installment in the Monsterverse. Godzilla X Kong: Supernova will hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
Evil Dead Wrath - April 7, 2027
We have a brand new Evil Dead movie coming our way in August (Evil Dead Burn), but we also know we won’t have to wait too long after that to scratch our Deadite itch. Evil Dead Wrath is already on the slate for 2027.
This installment will be directed by Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County). So far, the announced cast includes Charlotte Hope (The Nun), Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat franchise), Zach Gilford (Midnight Mass), Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road), Ella Newton (Dangerous Animals), Australian newcomer Ella Oliphant, and Elizabeth Cullen (Goolagong). Evil Dead Wrath is set to release April 7, 2027.
The Revenge of La Llorona - April 9
The weeping woman is back for more, and so is the producing team from 2019’s La Llorona – Emile Gladstone, Gary Dauberman, and James Wan. The team has tapped Canadian filmmaker Santiago Menghini as writer-director for the latest installment, with a script by Sean Tretta (Wan’s Creature from the Black Lagoon).
Revenge will focus on the return of the vengeful spirit La Llorona, and a fractured family forced to confront their past and join forces with their estranged curandero grandfather. Raymond Cruz returns, reprising his role as a curandero from the 2019 movie, joined by Jay Hernandez. The Revenge of La Llorona is in theaters April 9, 2027.
Paranormal Activity 8 - May 21
Following seven Paranormal Activity films and a live stage play, the eighth installment of the found-footage supernatural franchise is slated to land in theaters on May 21, 2027. We don’t have details on the plot just yet, but the last installment, Next of Kin, released in 2021, broke from the established format and focused on a group making a documentary.
No word yet on whether the eighth installment will be a return to form for the franchise. The eighth Paranormal Activity entry will be in theaters May 21, 2027.
A Quiet Place Part III - July 9
John Krasinski returns to write, direct, and produce the fourth installment in the A Quiet Place franchise. That’s right, part III is the fourth movie in the universe, with the 2024 prequel A Quiet Place: Day One marking the third installment.
Day One was the only entry in the series not directed by Krasinski. He’s back (as writer-director, his character was sadly killed at the end of the first film). Part III is said to take place 6 years after the events of the sequel. A Quiet Place Part III is in theaters July 9, 2027.
Shiver - August 13, 2027
Keanu Reeves vs sharks? Say no more. If that’s not enough of a selling point for you, the story focuses on a smuggler in the Caribbean Sea, caught in a deadly double-cross involving hostile mercenaries and sharks, trapping him in a deathly time loop.
Sharks, sci-fi, and Keanu? Sounds like a holy trifecta to me. Shiver is in theaters August 13, 2027.
The Conjuring: First Communion - September 10, 2027
After the Warrens’ story concluded in 2025’s aptly titled The Conjuring: Last Rites, the franchise continues with several planned spin-offs and this upcoming prequel, The Conjuring: First Communion. Last Rites marked the highest-grossing installment in the series to date, and no doubt New Line Cinema hopes to keep that momentum going with First Communion.
While we don’t have plot details just yet, the prequel allegedly focuses on the young Warrens with younger actors taking on the roles made famous by franchise staples Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. The Conjuring: First Communion is in theaters September 10, 2026.
Untitled Blair Witch Movie - September 24, 2027
Untitled BLAIR WITCH movie The Blair Witch reboot has been in the works for some time now, and while we still don’t have many details, we do know the movie will be in theaters in 2027. Two of the original Blair Witch stars act as executive producers along with the original film’s directors, Eduardo Sanchez, Daniel Myrick, and the original film’s producer, Gregg Hale.
The upcoming film will be directed by Dylan Clark and written by Chris Thomas Devlin. We don’t have any information on cast or plot, but you’ll be the first to know as soon as we do. The untitled Blair Witch movie will be in theaters September 24, 2027.
Gremlins 3 - November 19, 2027
Original Gremlins writer Chris Columbus returns for the third Gremlins installment. It’s a new new batch. That’s not what it’s called. At least, we don’t think that’s what they’re calling it.
Columbus will be on double duty, once again penning the script and also in the director’s chair. Plot and cast details are still scarce as this is a late 2027 release, but it sounds like this will be a sequel rather than a remake or reboot. Does that mean we’re getting a legacy sequel with returning cast members Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates? One can only hope!
Steven Spielberg also returns as executive producer. I hope this introduces a whole new batch (generation) to the world of Gremlins, birthing a new crop of certified horror fanatics.
Gremlins 3 is set for a November 19, 2027 release. That sounds mighty far away, but it’ll be here quicker than we think (threatening). In the meantime, we have plenty of new horror movie releases to look forward to in the second half of this year. And I’m happy to see that next year is already shaping up to be pretty packed with new horror movie releases, we have lots to celebrate.
