On Set Cinema is heading to Paterson, New Jersey this September for a very special 50th anniversary screening of psychological cult classic horror Alice Sweet Alice, taking place at one of the movie's actual filming locations.
Originally titled Communion and also Holy Terror, Alfred Sole's 1976 slasher follows the brutal murder of young Karen during her First Communion, with suspicion falling on her jealous and troubled 12-year-old sister, Alice. As a killer in a bright yellow raincoat and eerie translucent doll mask continues to terrorize the community, the investigation uncovers a dark family past filled with twisted motives.
On September 13, On Set Cinema will be showing the movie inside the abandoned warehouse building featured in the movie – the location where the masked killer attacks Alice’s father, Dom, reveals their identity, and pushes him to his death. There will be a pre-screening tour of the building, including access to the infamous attic – normally off-limits to the public – where fans can check out the exact location of the film’s chilling killer reveal.
Actor and Alice Sweet Alice super fan Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night, Haunt, Wrong Turn) will be appearing as a special guest, joining fans to discuss what makes the film so special, and will also be available for autographs and photo opportunities.
Dante Tomaselli, filmmaker and cousin of Sole, will also be premiering his new 16-minute documentary Eternal Damnation: The Hidden History of Alice, Sweet Alice, which explores the film's history and legacy.
Alice Sweet Alice fans can also meet another special guest from the movie, as the 1961 Chrysler New Yorker combination hearse/ambulance used to carry away Karen Spages’ (Brooke Shields) body after her wake will be on display.
The special screening joins On Set Cinema's other anniversary events this year which have included celebrations of Sleepaway Camp and The Howling. For full event details, head over to On Set Cinema's official site.
