And they might be looping Andy Muschietti in to direct the pilot!

We've known and been excited about Welcome to Derry, HBO Max's forthcoming IT prequel series, for some time now (hell, our original post on the matter, from all the way back in June, is still haunting the “trending” tab on this very website), and today we're excited to have two new updates to share about the show.

According to Variety, Welcome to Derry has selected Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman, Pan) and Brad Caleb Kane (Black Sails, Fringe) as co-showrunners, with both working under executive producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti. In addition to that, they're also reporting that Muschietti is being eyed to helm the show's premiere! Pretty neat!

Not much is known about Welcome to Derry beyond the fact that it's a prequel, but we do know the series will take place roughly 27 years prior to the events depicted in IT: Chapter One – which means we're headed to the 1960's. There's also been no word on casting (we're dying to know if Bill Skarsgård will reprise his role as Pennywise) or a production timeline/release date, but with things ramping up on the project we imagine there'll be further updates to share in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned!
