1313: James Wan Producing THE MUNSTERS Reboot For Universal

Lindsey Anderson Beer (PET SEMATARY: BLOODLINES) will serve as show runner on the "darker reimagining" of the iconic series.

Not long after Rob Zombie's 2022 reboot, The Munsters are heading back to the small screen with Universal's new series 1313, produced by James Wan's Atomic Monster.

Deadline, who reported the news today, says that 1313 will be a “darker reimagining” of the 1964 classic sitcom, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) serving as showrunner.

Deadline also report that executive producers are Beer and Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster, while Ingrid Bisu is a co-exec producer.

If for some reason you're not familiar, the original The Munsters starred Fred Gwynne, Yvonne De Carlo, Al Lewis and Butch Patrick as a family of lovable monsters living at 1313 Mockingbird Lane (hence the 1313 title).

1313 isn't the first time The Munsters has undergone a reboot – back in 2012, Bryan Fuller's Mockingbird Lane (starring Jerry O'Connell, Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard) was set to reimagine the spooky series, but was never picked up for more than a pilot by NBC.

In 2017, a reboot was said to be in the works from Jill Kargman and Seth Meyers, but sadly that didn't manifest either.

Here's hoping that 1313 has more luck! With Atomic Monster at the helm (The Conjuring, Malignant, M3GAN… need we go on?) things are already looking brighter.

We'll bring you more updates on 1313 as we get them.
