THE GORGE: First Look At Star Anya Taylor-Joy In Scott Derrickson’s Action Thriller

The genre-bending feature, also starring Miles Teller and Sigourney Weaver, hits Apple TV+ in 2025.

Releasing in 2025 on Apple TV+ is The Gorge, the upcoming survival action thriller from Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Black Phone, Doctor Strange), with first look new images today giving us a sneak peak of stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller in action.

In Skydance Media's The Gorge, two  snipers – one American, the other Russian – stationed in separate watchtowers to safeguard the world from a mysterious evil.

“They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. When the cataclysmic threat to humanity is revealed to them, they must work together in a test of both their physical and mental strength to keep the secret in the gorge before it’s too late.”

The script was written by Zach Dean (Deadfall, Fast X) and was for a long-time on Hollywood's ‘Black List' of most-liked yet unproduced scripts. Thankfully, that's all changed!

Alongside Taylor-Joy and Teller, The Gorge stars Alien icon Sigourney Weaver and Wednesday‘s William Houston.

Talking with IGN, who debuted the images exclusively today, Derrickson had this to say of the genre-bending flick:

The Gorge blends multiple genres — romance, science fiction, action, spy thriller and even horror […] The idea was to first invest a lot of time into the backstories and evolving connection between the two characters played by Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, and then see them thrust into survival mode amidst the unrelenting and unpredictable dangers and mysteries of the gorge itself.”

Per IGN, Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger are producing alongside Crooked Highway’s Derrickson, frequent Derrickson collaborator and writer C. Robert Cargill (Sinister, The Black Phone), Sherryl Clark, as well as Dean, Adam Kolbrenner and Greg Goodman.

While we can't guarantee just how far into horror The Gorge will lean, the ominous tagline on today's new poster is pure creature feature -“They’re not keeping you out. They’re keeping them in.” – and so we're already thoroughly intrigued. More on The Gorge when we get it!
