The Boulet Brothers' Dragula Season 666 is underway! So far it seems The Boulets have once again upped the ante, nobody is safe, and the extermination challenges are even more… challenging? Frightening, grotesque. Episode 1 threw the new monsters into the gauntlet with a haunted house right off the bat.
The hour-and-a-half-long premiere episode featured the now infamous Horror Icons Reimagined challenge with guest judges Jamie Clayton (Actor, Hellraiser) and Akela Cooper (Writer, Malignant, M3gan, The Nun 2). Massive spoilers below, so if you have not watched the first episode yet, beware! You're about to find out the first monster eliminated in season 6.
But first, a little breakdown of what's in store for us this season:
“Spine-chilling, extreme physical feats that will push the cast of drag superstars to confront their darkest fears. This 10-episode season is bigger, bloodier, and more brutal than anything that’s come before, featuring expanded “on location” challenges, twisted new themes for the floorshows, cinematic sequences dripping with dread, and innovative drag that will leave viewers gasping.”
Scylla won this episode's fright feat challenge by finding the scroll of immunity within the walls of the haunted house. Asia Consent won the Horror Icons Reimagined floorshow challenge with a riff on Terrifier‘s Art the Clown, while Aurora Gozmic and Severity Stone placed in the bottom two and faced off in the elimination challenge.
Now, in past interviews with FANGORIA, the Boulets have mentioned that they would love to drop the contestants off in the middle of the ocean in the dead of night and speed away. This is not quite that, but they did drop Aurora and Severity into shark-infested ocean waters for a little swim.
SPOILER WARNING:
In the end, Severity Stone faced death by mirror (very on brand for her reimagined Candyman look), and Aurora Gozmic emerged from the depths of the sea, triumphant. Severity joined us to chat about the experience, dealing with doubt as an artist, and swimming with fuckin sharks. Watch the full interview below, and new episodes of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula season 6 streaming on Shudder every Monday at 9pm PT/Midnight ET (which I suppose technically makes it Tuesday for our East Coast friends).
