Fresh off being Rated R for grisly images and gore, Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man gets a brand new trailer today ahead of its January 17 release date that certainly promises we're in for a bloodbath.
Starring Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, Sanctuary, Possessor) and Julia Garner (Ozark, Apartment 7A), Blumhouse and Universal's Wolf Man is the latest modern reimagining of one the latter's iconic Universal Monsters, following Whannell's 2020 shocker The Invisible Man.
In Wolf Man:
Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Garner), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Firth).
But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.
Alongside Abbott and Garner, Wolf Man also stars Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale), Ben Prendergast (The Sojourn Audio Drama) and Benedict Hardie (The Invisible Man), with newcomer Zac Chandler, Beatriz Romilly (Shortland Street) and Milo Cawthorne (Shortland Street).
In today's new trailer we get a sneak peek of Abbott's transformation but it looks like Blumhouse are, wisely, keeping the full reveal under wraps. We saw how well this worked with Longlegs and the upcoming Nosferatu.
It also seems pretty clear now that everyone who was stressed about the apparent Wolf Man reveal at Halloween Horror Nights has nothing to worry about…
