I recently had a very mysterious invitation from Jason Egan of Egan Escape Productions to make a quick trip to Vegas for a very special announcement. I love a good mystery, and I know Egan Escape leads the industry in escape room experiences that go above and beyond what we think of when we conjure up images of “escape room.”
As it turns out, I was invited (along with fellow Saw fans) to witness new upgrades to The Official Saw Escape just in time for Halloween 2024, including fresh games and immersive new content. We began our journey in the infamous Saw bathroom, where a chained woman writhed and screamed for help. As we ran around looking for clues to unlock her (were we supposed to observe or play the game!?) a sliding door swung open to reveal a cloaked figure in the iconic pig mask, wielding an electric cattle prod (and scaring the hell out of all of us).
As the cloaked figure triggered the electric prod a few times, they moved to the shit-stained urinal with a proclamation slightly muffled by the mask: “I gotta pee.” Standing at the urinal, the mask was dramatically removed to reveal… Saw icon Shawnee Smith. Shocked is an understatement.
If you're a Saw fan, this is a must-visit. New content within the escape featuring Shawnee Smith as Amanda is part of a broader revamp, including heightened gameplay, new puzzles, additional interactors to increase the immersion, and atmospheric outdoor effects that create a thrilling ambiance from the moment guests arrive at The Official Saw Escape.
Stepping foot inside the experience, it is immediately clear this is no ordinary escape room, and it is easy to see why it's ranked as one of the top escape rooms in the nation. The production level is next level and the actors are incredible.
The Official Saw Escape brings the terrifying world of Saw to life with 13 intricately themed rooms. Seven of these rooms challenge guests to match wits with Jigsaw, the Master of Games in SAW, solving puzzles to escape before time runs out. Now, with the addition of Shawnee Smith’s character “Amanda”, the experience is taken to a whole new level, giving fans the chance to come face-to-face with one of the franchise’s most memorable characters.
