Legendary Comics and Karloff Enterprises have teamed up for a stunning graphic novel adaptation of the game-changing sci-fi horror classic with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Starring Boris Karloff officially on sale today.
A reunion of the award-winning creative team of Kerry Gammill and El Garing (the RONDO Award-winning Bram Stoker’s Dracula Starring Bela Lugosi), this adaptation of Shelley's 1818 novel brings to life Boris Karloff's iconic performance, and introduces an all-new original design of Karloff as the creature.
Now, we're sure you don't need a refresher on Frankenstein‘s legacy but just in case; James Whale's 1931 Frankenstein, starring the legendary Karloff, is considered the definitive on screen portrayal of Shelley's novel, with Karloff's look as Frankenstein's monster pretty much setting the pace for any and all representations to come (including Christian Bale in Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! and, perhaps, Guillermo del Toro's upcoming take on the Gothic horror classic…?)
The image of Karloff's creature is so iconic that it's hard to imagine a different design, but Gammill and Garing seem to have created an equally creepy and striking look.
