Rebecca Hall, a familiar face to anyone who loves a good psychological thriller, is taking her horror talents to TV. Variety reports that the Resurrection star is set to join Ryan Murphy’s latest series for FX, titled The Beauty, alongside Murphy mainstay Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope.

The eleven episode series is based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. While exact details of how Murphy will interpret the series are being kept under wraps, the comic’s logline is as follows:

“Modern society is obsessed with outward beauty. What if there was a way to guarantee you could become more and more beautiful every day? What if it was a sexually transmitted disease? In the world of ‘The Beauty,’ physical perfection is attainable. The vast majority of the population has taken advantage of it, but Detectives Foster and Vaughn will soon discover it comes at a terrible price.”

The Beauty is just the latest in a long line of horror series Murphy has created and produced, beginning with American Horror Story in 2011, and also includes Ratched, American Horror Stories, and the anthology series Monster. The Emmy winner’s most recent project was Grotesquerie, which featured Niecy Nash and football-player-slash-Taylor-Swift-accessory Travis Kelce, and has yet to be renewed for a second season by FX.

Hall is no stranger to horror on film, having starred in both the critically acclaimed 2020 film The Night House, as well as the 2022 film Resurrection. She also recently starred in the BBC series The Listeners, about a woman tortured by a humming noise that only she seems to be able to hear.

No release date for The Beauty has been announced.
