A GRIMM Reboot Movie Is In The Works At Peacock

NBC's supernatural police procedural drama aired for six seasons between 2011 and 2017.

NBC's cult supernatural police procedural drama Grimm is headed for the big screen, with a movie reboot in the works over at Peacock.

Reporting the news exclusively today, Deadline reveal that Drop Dead Diva creator Josh Berman is writing the new take, which he is executive producing with the original series’ creative team, co-creators/executive producers and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, producer Lynn Kouf, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television.

Grimm aired for six seasons between 2011 and 2017, and followed Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) who discovers he is a Grimm, the latest in a line of guardians who are sworn to keep the balance between humanity and mythological creatures.

The series, which averaged about 6.4 million U.S. viewers during its first season and was one of Friday’s highest-rated scripted series, sparked a number of tie-in comic books and novels, and once even had a spin-off series in development, centering on a new Grimm, which never got off the ground.

Deadline report that plot details for the Grimm movie are still under wraps, but it is “believed to have ties to the original series for diehard fans [and] could also be easily accessed by new viewers not familiar with the mythology.” Deadline also note that, if successful, the Grimm movie could launch a brand new franchise.

Keep an eye out for more Grimm updates as they roll in.
