Gareth Edwards' Jurassic World Rebirth stomps into theaters on July 2, with Universal dropping the first trailer today.

Starring Scarlett Johansson as covert operations expert Zora Bennett, Mahershala Ali as team leader Duncan Kincaid, Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, and Rupert Friend as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs, Jurassic World Rebirth was written by original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp (recently seen penning Steven Soderbergh's Presence), and follows:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

Academy Award nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.

Also starring in Jurassic World Rebirth are Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).

Today's new trailer gives us a glimpse of what Edwards described as one of the twisted, genetically mutated dinosaurs, one that has “Some Rancor went in there, some H.R. Giger went in there, a little T. rex went in there…” As the seventh film in the Jurassic series, Rebirth has some big shoes to fill, but if this trailer is anything to go by we're in for a roaring good time.

OG Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg returns as executive producer, along with Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing.
