Samara Weaving Gets Stalked By A Sociopath In First BORDERLINE Trailer

Ray Nicholson also stars in the 90s-set thriller from COCAINE BEAR scribe Jimmy Warden.

Scream queen Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, Azrael) and Ray Nicholson (Smile 2) star in upcoming 90s-set thriller Borderline, with IndieWire debuting the first trailer earlier today.

Directed by Cocaine Bear scribe Jimmy Warden in his feature debut, Borderline hits theaters and digital platforms on March 14 via Magnet Releasing.

In Borderline

A violent sociopath Paul (Nicholson) escapes from a mental hospital and embarks on a dangerous rampage. His target: Sofia (Weaving), a world-famous pop star. An obsessive fan, he takes Sofia hostage in her own home, delusionally believing they’re getting married.

Paul is desperate to prove his dedication but Sofia’s just trying to survive the night. As Paul grows more unhinged, his fantasy becomes more dangerous. With help from her loyal bodyguard (Eric Dane), Sofia must fight not only her life, but for her sanity, and escape the sinister grip of her stalker and his growing group of accomplices.

Produced by Margot Robbie's LuckyChap, Borderline also stars Alba Batista and Jimmie Fails.

Warden, Weaving's real-life husband, previously collaborated with Weaving on The Babysitter: Killer Queen. Speaking with IndieWire, Weaving spoke more about the pair working together:

[Jimmy is] incredible to work with. He’s so driven and so ambitious and a bit of a perfection, almost to a fault,” Weaving said. “He’s in the edit [room] right now and it’s just looking cooler and cooler and cooler every time. The whole cast is just so good. Ray and Alba are the best. It’s so weird and bonkers. Oh my god, and Jimmie Fails, incredible!

I think people are going to be like, ‘What am I watching?!’ You’ve seen ‘Cocaine Bear.’ It’s a mixture of different genres and ‘Borderline’ is the same thing, if not more insane. Well, it’s hard to top a cocaine bear, ain’t it? But [Jimmy] has got a mental brain and I think people are going to love it.

Nicholson seems to be making a cinematic habit of pushing female pop stars to their limit, having just starred against Naomi Scott aka Skye Riley in Parker Finn's Smile 2, where his haunting grin provides one of the most memorable shots in the supernatural horror.
