Osgood Perkins' The Monkey hits theaters this Friday, with Neon continuing their famously excellent marketing by getting a group of morticians to watch the gory-as-all-hell horror comedy.
Based on a Stephen King short of the same name included in his 1985 collection Skeleton Crew, The Monkey stars Theo James (The White Lotus), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Elijah Wood (Maniac, The Lord Of The Rings, Bookworm), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek):
When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them. The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.
Produced by horror master James Wan, The Monkey is Perkins' follow-up to last year's serial killer thriller Longlegs, which became Neon's highest-grossing film and the highest-grossing independent film of the year. Will The Monkey rack up similarly successful numbers at the box office? Our money's on yes.
In today's new video from Neon, Perkins and James join a group of professional morticians to dissect some of the film's most outrageous deaths (and, trust us, there are many!)
