Following last year's found-footage horror Devon, Jenni ‘JWoww' Farley of Jersey Shore fame begins filming next month on her sophomore feature Nanny Cam.
Deadline reports that Arrow star Katie Cassidy (also known to horror fans for her work in 2006's Black Christmas, Supernatural and A Nightmare on Elm Street) is set to lead the psychological thriller, which draws on Farley's own personal experiences growing up with an absent mother and of first-time motherhood.
In Nanny Cam:
The film follows a new mother, played by Cassidy, who grapples with her dark ancestral legacy as she tries to protect her newborn daughter against what she believes is a malevolent demon, bringing her own mental health into question.
Also starring in Nanny Cam are Riley Dandy (Christmas Bloody Christmas), Myles Clohessy (Frontier Crucible), and Sol Miranda (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).
In a statement, Farley expanded more on the themes of the upcoming pic:
“Nanny-Cam delves into the chilling story of Trinity, a young woman haunted by the fears and anxieties of first-time motherhood—fears I know all too well […] Growing up with an absent mother, I often battled a nagging voice that questioned my ability to be a good parent. This film captures the unsettling darkness of those doubts, revealing how personal demons can transform the joy of motherhood into a terrifying struggle.”
Producing Nanny Cam are Joe Barbagallo and Logan Hunter from BarBhouse Productions (A Wounded Fawn).
Look out for more on Nanny Cam as we get it.
