Exclusive: Chilean Found Footage Horror INVOKING YELL Scares Up A Sequel

INVOKING SCREAM will explore the dark intersections of supernatural horror and extreme music, centering on a 2000s death metal band.

Following a successful festival run and Shudder premiere earlier this year, Chilean found-footage heavy metal horror Invoking Yell officially has a sequel in development, and we've got the exclusive details.

The sequel, titled Invoking Scream, will explore the dark intersections of supernatural horror and extreme music, this time centering on a death metal band set in the late 2000s. Invoking Yell director Patricio Valladares will once again return to helm the sequel, with the script co-written by Valladares and Barry Keating.

Released onto digital on September of last year via Welcome Villain Films, the tale of Invoking Yell went down like this:

Set in 1997 south of Chile, Invoking Yell is a love letter to black metal that follows a trio of metalhead twenty-something girls who venture into the woods to shoot the demo tape for their black metal band, Invoking Yell. However, things take a sinister turn as they document their disturbing and unorthodox process of recording paranormal phenomena to be used in the album’s final track.

María Jesús Marcone, one of the stars of Invoking Yell, will return in Invoking Scream, bringing back her key character in a yet-to-be-revealed capacity…

Filming for Invoking Scream is scheduled to begin in April, with the filmmakers “dedicated to preserving the raw and visceral aesthetic that defined the first film, blending elements of mumblecore with an analog horror style.”

Invoking Scream is produced by Diego Moral Heimpell of Moral Bros, Vittorio Farfan, and Valladares of Vallastudio Films and is expected to hit film festivals by the end of 2026. Look out for more updates as we get them.
