Filmmaker, actress and FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-winner Gigi Saul Guerrero (Bingo Hell, Satanic Hispanics, V/H/S/85) is set to lead supernatural horror thriller Talking to a Stranger (Hablando con Extraños) from Adrián García Bogliano (Late Phases, Here Comes the Devil), Variety reports today.
Corazón Films will handle distribution and global sales for the feature, which was shot entirely on location in Guadalajara, Mexico.
An original screenplay from García Bogliano, Talking to a Stranger follows Patricia (played by Guerrero in her first leading role), a grieving mother haunted by a supernatural entity after the tragic loss of her child in a fire.
In a statement, García Bogliano expressed his excitement for the new addition to his genre filmography:
“Talking to a Stranger is an incredibly rare combination of a deeply personal and disturbing film, yet also a high-concept piece with the potential to connect with a very wide audience, exploring powerful emotions […] I’m incredibly fortunate to have found partners in Morbido, Corazon and Prismaticoos who are as committed to the script as I am.”
Here's what Eckehardt von Damm of Corazón Films has to say of the “powerful addition to the horror genre”:
“Bringing Talking to a Stranger to life was an unforgettable journey. With Adrián García Bogliano’s masterful direction and Gigi Saul Guerrero’s electrifying performance, every moment on set felt like we were crafting something truly special, and we did,”
