War's bad enough without a pack of ancient reptiles stalking you through the jungle, which is exactly the situation star Ryan Kwanten (True Blood, Glorious) finds himself in in today's new trailer for Primitive War.
Based on Ethan Pettus’ book of the same name and directed by Luke Sparke (Occupation), Primitive War also stars Jeremy Piven, Tricia Helfer, Nick Wechsler, Ana Thu Nguyen and Jake Ryan.
Set in Vietnam in 1968, the sci-fi horror pic follows:
…a search and rescue team known as Vulture Squad sent to an isolated jungle valley to reveal the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon. As they hunt through the primordial depths of the valley and the casualties mount, the Vulture Squad members must embrace their savage instincts to survive the horrors they face, including the ultimate Apex predators, dinosaurs.”
Also starring in Primitive War are Anthony Ingruber (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Aaron Glenane (Danger Close), Carlos Sanson Jr (Bump), Ana Thu Nguyen (Mortal Kombat 2), Adolphus Waylee (Nautilus), Richard Brancatisano (The Messenger), Marcus Johnson (Talk to Me) and Jake Ryan (Underbelly).
Speaking previously to THR, Sparke was – understandably – extremely excited to come on board the project:
“Dinosaurs in the Vietnam war? What’s not to love about that concept?! When I first heard about the books, I loved the ideas and concepts Ethan brought into them, and we’re shaping our film version into an exciting survival-horror film,”
Here's at FANGORIA we're always happy to see more dino horror, especially when they have feathers, and especially in a year where we're already hyped for Jurassic World Rebirth.
Watch the new trailer for Primitive War and expect the movie to release later this year:
