FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2: Fazbear And Co. Return In First Teaser For Blumhouse Sequel

Emma Tammi's animatronic horror hits theaters on December 5.

Fazbear and co. are back and badder than ever, in a new teaser for Blumhouse's Five Nights at Freddy's 2, debuting at Universal's CinemaCon presentation last night.

Emma Tammi (The Wind, Blood Moon) returns to direct the follow up to 2023's highest-grossing horror film, which will release only in theaters on December 5 – that's right, no simultaneous Peacock premiere this time around.

Returning for the sequel are stars Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio and Mary Stuart Masterson, as well as Scream king Matthew Lillard who plays series antagonist William Afton.

An adaptation of Scott Cawthon's massively successful video game franchise of the same name, the first Five Nights at Freddy's follows a security guard, Mike (Hutcherson), working the night shift at an abandoned pizza parlour full of murderous animatronics, created by the FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-nominated Jim Henson’s Creature Workshop.

Last year, Lillard teased a little more of what fans can expect from the Freddy's sequel:

“I will say that I think the filmmakers have done a great job of learning from the first movie of what fans want, and I think they're giving a lot more of that. It's going to be more exciting, and I think it's going to have more action. It's going to have a lot of character development stuff. It's hard to kiss around it. I think the story ends, and this movie ends in a really exciting way.”

While not confirmed, there's a good chance that Five Nights at Freddy's 2 could mark the second entry in a new horror trilogy, if the sequel does well (which it probably will, if Blumhouse's Freddy's track record is anything to go by!)
