Following yesterday's news that Summer H. Howell is nearing a deal to play the lead in Mike Flanagan's upcoming Carrie series, Variety has revealed that Resident Evil star Siena Agudong has joined the cast.
Agudong will play bully-turned-ally Sue Snell in a regular role in the eight-episode Amazon series based on Stephen King's 1974 debut novel.
Flanagan's Carrie is described as:
“…a bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White (Howell), who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.”
In Brian De Palma's 1976 adaptation of Carrie and Katt Shea's 1999 sequel The Rage: Carrie 2, Sue Snell was played by Amy Irving, with Kandyse McClure and Gabriella Wilde taking the role in the 2002 and 2013 adaptations of Carrie respectively.
No further details for Carrie have yet been released, aside from that Flanagan will write and executive produce, as well as serving as showrunner and directing. Trevor Macy also serves as an executive producer.
Variety also notes the series is gearing up to shoot this summer in Vancouver.
Look out for more on Carrie as we get it.
