The JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH Popcorn Bucket Is Not What You’re Expecting

Regal Cinemas has unveiled a rather unique product tie-in for the upcoming sequel.

The summer movie season is firmly upon us and if that wasn’t obvious already, the looming release of Jurassic World Rebirth should make it crystal clear. This is one of the biggest, most popular movie franchises around and this entry is aiming to offer up a new beginning with a new cast of characters in a new location with new dinosaurs. Naturally, we’re also getting a new popcorn bucket to go along with the release. That makes sense on the surface but make no mistake, what those popcorn scientists cooked up in that lab is not at all what you’re picturing.

To coincide with the release of the latest trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, the folks at Regal Cinemas unveiled the exclusive popcorn bucket that patrons will have the chance to purchase when the movie hits theaters in July. Fancy, themed popcorn buckets have become all the rage in recent years. Why not do one for what figures to be one of the biggest movies of the year? But rather than just make a T-rex head with popcorn in it, Regal did something more, shall we say unique? Behold the Incubator Dual Container.

Indeed, you will have the opportunity to eat popcorn from an unwieldy container that is incubating one of the misfit dinosaurs from Rebirth. This is right up there with the unhinged Alien:: Romulus popcorn bucket that was released last year. It does look like a pretty neat thing to display on a shelf after the fact. But as a vessel for eating popcorn out of in a movie theater? It makes less sense, at least at first glance. Then again, it’s hard not to respect how straight-up weird this is. Again, they could have just given us a T-rex head and called it a day.

In any event, this isn’t going to be the last bizarre bit of merchandise we see tied to this movie. Jurassic World Rebirth was named as the most-anticipated movie of the summer. Rest assured, Universal is going to be lining store shelves with lots and lots of dino-themed merch. As for what the movie is actually about? The official synopsis reads as follows:

“Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”

The cast is led by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein round out the ensemble. Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) is in the director’s chair, working from a script by David Koepp (Jurassic Park).
