As we head into summer and everyone’s looking for something to do, New York City is gearing up for this year’s Tribeca Festival, showcasing a diverse group of films, television series, games, and more to audiences, including a host of new horror for us to sink our teeth into. As June creeps ever closer, the festival has just announced their lineup of over thirty jurors for this year’s event, including faces like Candyman director Nia DaCosta and Twin Peaks icon Kyle MacLachlan, who will be awarding films, actors, directors, and more across fifteen competitive categories.
DaCosta leads the jury lineup for the U.S. Narrative Feature Competition, which also includes Art Linson, Joshua Marston, Kent Sanderson, and Colson Whitehead, while MacLachlan is a part of the team for the U.S. International Narrative Feature Competition, alongside Dagmara Dominczyk, Valeria Golino, Toby Jones, and David Laub. Other notable names include Mira Sorvino, who serves as juror for the Documentary Feature Competition, Matthew Broderick judging the Best New Narrative Director Competition, Jennifer Beals for this year’s Viewpoints Competition, and Moon Zappa for the Narrative & Animated Shorts Competition.
“We’re proud to welcome an eclectic group of jurors to this year’s Tribeca Festival,” said Nancy Lefkowitz, executive vice president of Tribeca Enterprises. “Their breadth of expertise across genres will be instrumental in recognizing standout storytellers and honoring bold new voices from around the world.”
Winners of all the festival competitions will be announced on June 12. Horror films screening at the festival this year include Queens of the Dead, Neverland, Man Finds Tape, Playing God, In Jeff We Trust, and Dog of God, as well as anniversary screenings of American Psycho and Shivers.
Tribeca Festival runs from June 4 to June 15 across several theaters in New York City. More information about the films, tickets, and jurors is available on the fest’s website.
