Having already created the soundtrack to many of our favorite childhood moments on film and in music, “Weird Science” musician and composer Danny Elfman is back at bat for another killer score — literally. The award-winning musician just revealed that he’s setting up to reteam with frequent collaborator Sam Raimi for his upcoming thriller Send Help, which he’ll be providing the score for.
When speaking to journalist Andrew Freund at the opening of Universal Orlando’s new park Epic Universe, the Beetlejuice composer and former Oingo Boingo frontman confirmed that he’s scoring Raimi’s latest film when asked about his upcoming work, confirming that the film has also wrapped production.
“I’m just finishing a score for Gus Van Sant and a really fun thriller,” the composer said, “And then I start another thriller with Sam Raimi, that they just finished shooting in Australia called Send Help.” He also confirmed that he’s got another solo album on the way, after several years of massively successful solo performances at Coachella.
Send Help stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, following two friends stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash who must overcome their own trauma and disagreements in order to survive. Directed by Raimi from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, this will be Danny Elfman’s eighth collaboration with the Evil Dead director, having also scored the director’s first two Spider-Man films, as well as Army of Darkness, Darkman, A Simple Plan, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Oz: The Great and Powerful.
In addition to Send Help, Elfman is also set to score Dead Man’s Wire, the Van Sant thriller he mentions in Freund’s interview, as well as Dracula: A Love Story, from director Luc Besson. These projects join his massively influential discography which also includes titles like Beetlejuice, Tim Burton’s Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, Hellboy II; The Golden Army, and The Wolfman.
Send Help hits theaters on January 30, 2026. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
