As part of this year's celebrations celebrating the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's creature feature classic, Laurent Bouzereau's new documentary, Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story is set to premiere on National Geographic on July 10 followed by Hulu and Disney+ on July 11.
From National Geographic in partnership with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Documentaries, Nedland Media, and Wendy Benchley, the authorized documentary celebrates the film that redefined Hollywood, 50 years after its premiere:
Alongside Steven Spielberg, Jaws @ 50 charts the extraordinary journey from Peter Benchley’s bestselling novel to one of the most iconic films ever made. Featuring rare archival footage and interviews with acclaimed Hollywood directors, top shark scientists, and conservationists, the documentary uncovers the behind-the-scenes chaos and how the film launched the summer blockbuster, inspired a new wave of filmmakers, and paved the way for shark conservation that continues today.
The 90-minute doc includes anecdotes and insights from Spielberg, as well as a host of huge names in cinema, including J.J. Abrams, James Cameron, Jordan Peele, Guillermo del Toro, George Lucas, John Williams, and Robert Zemeckis.
Alongside Jaws @ 50, Jaws fans can also enjoy a theatrical re-release, various Jaws-themed events around the country (including at Martha's Vineyard, aka Amity Island, and Universal Studios Hollywood) and a brand new 4K UHD SteelBook release (which includes Jaws @ 50 as part of over five hours of extras).
