George A. Romero’s DAY OF THE DEAD Returning To Theaters For 40th Anniversary Celebration

Red Band Releasing will bring the iconic zombie horror to screens across the nation from July 1.
DAY OF THE DEAD (1985)

George A. Romero's Day of the Dead marks 40 years since its 1985 release this year, with the iconic zombie horror re-releasing in theaters via Red Band Releasing to celebrate.

Per an exclusive reveal by our friends over at Bloody Disgusting earlier todayDay of the Dead will screen across the country starting July 1, and running through to the appropriately spooky date of Halloween, October 31.

Speaking with Bloody Disgusting, Red Band Releasing also want to make clear that fan demand will help bring Day of the Dead to a theater near you, if it's not playing there already:

“If you don’t see a nearby screening listed at the site, contact your local independent theatres or drive-ins and tell them you want to see Day of the Dead on the big screen for its 40th anniversary by contacting us at [email protected] for booking info. This grass-root campaigning for shows actually works! Last year we booked over 20 of the 100+ theatres spurred on by horror fans contacting their local venues!”

Starring Lori Cardille, Terry Alexander, Joseph Pilato, Sherman Howard, Jarlath Conroy, Richard Liberty, and Gary Klar, Day of the Dead (the third in the Dead series that began with Night of the Living Dead in 1968) follows a group of scientists and military personnel sheltering in an underground bunker in Florida as they try to deal with the undead apocalyptic horde shambling around just above their heads.

To find a Day of the Dead screening near you, head over to Red Band Releasing’s Blog at DAY40TH.COM for a list of dates and theatres that will be updated every few days starting in mid-June.
