Ahead of a promised full first trailer dropping tomorrow, Paramount Pictures has unveiled an explosive first look at Edgar Wright's “intense and dangerous” The Running Man and its leading man Glen Powell.
Releasing theatrically on November 7, Wright's The Running Man also stars Michael Cera, Karl Glusman, Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra and Lee Pace.
Based on King's (then going by Richard Bachman) 1982 novel of the same name, The Running Man (which Wright directs from a script co-written with Michael Bacall) sees Powell (Hit Man, Twisters) star as protagonist Ben Richards, a participant in a dystopian reality television show in which contestants win money by evading a team of hitmen sent to kill them. Wright's take is the first since the 1987 movie from Paul Michael Glazer, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Wright's The Running Man joins a whole host of upcoming anticipated King adaptations including *deep breath* Mike Flanagan's Carrie series for Amazon, HBO's It prequel series Welcome to Derry, Francis Lawrence's The Long Walk, Netflix's Cujo, and Jack Bender's The Institute to name but a few.
Check out the tease for The Running Man below and we'll see you back here tomorrow, July 1, for the full trailer.
