Horror's hardest working man David Dastmalchian has joined Legendary's live-action Street Fighter movie in the role of big bad M. Bison, Deadline reveals today.
Directed by Bad Trip‘s Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is an adaptation of Capcom's legendary fighting game series, with Dastmalchian joining a cast that already includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, Orville Peck, 50 Cent, and Andrew Schulz.
Plot details for Street Fighter remain under wraps, but fans of the series will know M. Bison as the games' central villain as the leader of criminal organization Shadaloo. Raúl Juliá played the role in Steven E. de Souza's 1994 Street Fighter adaptation, which also starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as Colonel Guile and Kylie Minogue as Cammy.
Previously scheduled for release on March 20, 2026 (with Talk to Me and Bring Her Back‘s Danny and Michael Philippou at one point attached to direct), Street Fighter was shifted from Legendary's calendar with no new release date confirmed as of yet.
Street Fighter joins Dastmalchian's vast genre filmography, with the Late Night With the Devil Star most recently seen in Mike Flanagan's The Life of Chuck and Apple TV+'s Murderbot. His upcoming projects include The Shepherd, Dexter: Resurrection, Kodak SuperXX, Sender and The Cure, as well as an upcoming collaboration with the Boulet Brothers on The Boulet Brothers’ Holiday of Horrors .
Taking the above into consideration as well as his villainous roles in The Dark Knight and Prisoners, we have no doubt he'll smash his take on M. Bison. Look out for updates as we get them!
