FrightFest, the UK's biggest horror and fantasy film festival, returns for its 26th edition later this summer, with today bringing an absolutely gargantuan lineup of genre features hitting London from August 21 to 25.
As opposed to previous years where the fest was held at Cineworld Leicester Square, this year's FrightFest will again be held across two ODEON LUXE cinemas on right at the heart of the capital on Leicester Square.
The massive lineup includes sixty-nine features including the latest genre documentaries, classic restorations and retrospectives and a short film showcase to be announced later. This year brings nineteen World Premieres to FrightFest, with films from France, Norway, South Korea, Japan, Spain and more.
Opening this year's FrightFest is the Pete Davidson-starring The Home from The Purge creator James DeMonaco, and closing the fest is Kurtis David Harder’s Influencers, which sees a young woman’s fascination with murder and identity theft send her life into a whirlwind of chaos.
Other highlights among the stacked lineup include the Adams Family's Mother of Flies, Erik Bloomquist's Self-Help, Joe Begos' Jimmy and Stiggs, with FrightFest being the first festival to show the new version with additional Eli Roth footage. There's also the U.K. premiere of Macon Blair's Troma reboot The Toxic Avenger, A Serbian Documentary, chronicling Srdjan Spasojevic's controversial 2010 exploitation horror A Serbian Film, Bryce Morgan's erotic thriller Bone Lake, serial killer thriller What She Doesn't Know, genre-bending multiverse horror Redux Redux with directors McManus Brothers in attendance, and the U.K.'s very own Bambi: The Reckoning.
