Fragrance discovery platform Scentbird is giving horror fans the chance to smell like a slasher sequel, having teamed up with Sony Pictures a limited-edition fragrance discovery set inspired by Jennifer Kaytin Robin's I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The five fragrances were custom-selected to “mirror a specific mood or turning point in the plot”, representing key scenes with scents ranging from “eerie woods” to “blood orange”. Yum!
According to Variety, the drop features fragrances from cult brands including Arquiste, Mancera, and Commodity — all packaged in a fishnet pouch that nods to the film’s coastal horror roots (hopefully the coastal scent of fish is nowhere to be found).
Directed by Robinson (Do Revenge) from a script co-written by Sam Lansky and based on a story conceived with Leah McKendrick (M.F.A)., I Know What You Did Last Summer hits theaters on July 18, and stars OG 1997 stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. who return to play Julie James and Ray Bronson respectively.
Also starring are Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Chase Sui Wonders.
Similar to original Jim Gillespie’s 1997 slasher, I Know What You Did Last Summer's synopsis is as follows:
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
The first 50 shoppers to grab the limited-edition Scentbird x I Know What You Did Last Summer Set will also score free Fandango tickets to see the movie.
