Barbarian’s hornier sibling has arrived, and it’s not pulling any punches. Bleecker Street has just released a new trailer for Bone Lake, their erotic thriller about what happens when a vacation rental takes a dark turn, and things are quickly heating up ahead of the film’s fall release.
Directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan from a script by Joshua Friedlander, Bone Lake stars Maddie Hasson, Marco Pigossi, Alex Roe, Andra Nechita, Eliane Reis, and Clayton Spencer. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
A couple’s romantic vacation at a secluded lakeside estate is upended when they are forced to share the mansion with a mysterious and attractive couple. In this darkly hilarious and seductive horror story, a dream getaway spirals into a nightmarish maze of sex, lies, and manipulation, bringing terrifying secrets to light and triggering a bloody battle for survival.
The trailer introduces us to the two couples, one of whom seems unbothered by the world and the other, slightly more suspicious. We get to see some of the mysterious mansion as well, which looks far too fancy to be used as a rental property, and it’s clear that nothing is as it seems. While the two couples make a joke about the place being called “Bone Lake” not for a sinister reason, but a sexual one, things don’t seem to stay that lighthearted for long.
Bone Lake is produced by Jason Blumenfeld, Friedlander, Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, and Jacob Yakob. The film premiered at last year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, and currently holds a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes out of twenty reviews written about the “horny thriller” (their words, not mine) from the festival. It was acquired for domestic release in May by Bleecker Street, who’ll also be releasing Maika Monroe’s Victorian Psycho next year.
Bone Lake hits theaters on October 3, several weeks earlier than initially announced. Check out the new trailer below:
