The Bad Idea title follows a woman facing a reawakened evil in a Tinseltown studio lot.
THE LOT

Akela Cooper (M3GAN, The Nun II, the upcoming M3GAN 2.0) is set to adapt a filmic take on horror comic The Lot for comic publisher Bad Idea, The Hollywood Reporter have revealed today.

The four-issue comic, written by Marguerite Bennett (Batwoman) and drawn by Renato Guedes, was published in 2021 as part of Bad Idea’s first wave of comics:

The Lot centers on a woman named Aviva Copeland, who has just landed the biggest job of her career, becoming one of the few Black women to run a Hollywood studio. But as she sets out to revitalize the aging studio, her plan to refurbish and reopen a shuttered soundstage uncovers a buried secret: a legendary filmmaker, obsessed with authenticity, hired actual cult members to perform a real-life occult ritual for his latest horror masterpiece. Now the executive must deal with a reawakened evil in the most vicious pit of vipers — a Hollywood studio lot.

As well as write, Cooper will also produce the adaptation along with Bad Idea founder and CEO Dinesh Shamdasani and the company’s head of film and TV Benjamin Simpson.

Cooper has been one of the hottest names in horror since M3GAN danced her way onto the scene back in 2022, with her razor sharp and hilarious script being a particular highlight. As you may know if you watched the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards last week, we're big fans of Ms Cooper here, and so will be watching The Lot with great interest.

If you happen to be heading to New York Comic Con (which starts today), THR note that Bad Idea will be giving away a limited NYCC exclusive edition of The Lot no. 1 featuring a new cover (seen below!) by EM Carroll (Through the Woods) at their panel on Saturday, Oct 19 at 3:00pm in room 408.

We will bring you any and all updates on The Lot, including casting or further plot details, as they come in.
