Oh Deer, The First Teaser For BAMBI: THE RECKONING Is Here

Dan Allen's take on the 1942 Disney classic is the latest entry into the Twisted Childhood Universe.

Joining Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, Mickey Mouse and the Three Blind Mice in the newly-christened Twisted Childhood Universe (affectionately referred to as Poohniverse)  is Umbrella Entertainment's Bambi: The Reckoning, which gets a brand new trailer today.

Directed by Dan Allen (Unhinged), Bambi: The Reckoning is the first of the Poohniverse's standalone films that will also include Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare and Pinocchio Unstrung.

An official pun-filled plot synopsis lets us know what we're in for with this bloody desecration of another adorable Disney classic:

We follow Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron) who find themselves in a car wreck and soon hunted down by the vicious killing machine, Bambi. Bambi will destroy anyone in its path! Oh dear, we aren't done!

Incase you had a terrible childhood and haven't seen the 1942 original, Disney's Bambi was based on Felix Staten's 1923 novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods, and follows the adorable little deer in his journey from fawn to Prince of the Forest. How closely Bambi: The Reckoning will stick to the storyline, and whether we'll see a demonic take on Bambi's woodland critter friends Thumper and Flower, remains to be seen.

Love 'em or hate 'em, after the financial success of Rhys Frake-Waterfield's Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (which racked up a massive $5.2 million on a $50,000 budget), it looks like public domain horrors are here to stay. Whether or not Bambi: The Reckoning can reach those same heights remains to be seen.

At the time of writing, Bambi: The Reckoning does not have an official release date. Until we get one, here's our first look at the antlered atrocity:
