There’s lots of ways to grieve losses in someone’s life: taking up a new hobby, learning to journal, maybe even adopting a pet to focus your attention on. But what about visiting a ski club that turns out to be a secret cult? It’s certainly not the best option of the lot, but it’s the premise behind The Blue Diamond, an all new short from Foxy Films and DesiMo Productions, and today we're excited to debut an exclusive clip.
The all-new clip features horror icon, FANGORIA columnist, and star Barbara Crampton – best known for her performances in genre favorites like Re-Animator and Jakob’s Wife – decked out in her ‘80s ski gear finest, down to the blue eyeshadow. Big hair and all, she’s confronting her grieving daughter, who’s also decked out in ski gear…but wait, isn’t she supposed to be dead?
That's right, not all is as it seems at the chalet where The Blue Diamond is set. Star Desiree Staples’ young daughter is meant to be grieving her (admittedly toxic) mother’s death when she sets out for the chalet, but something strange and out of this world is happening as her apres ski club’s cultish ways begin to infect her brain. Is Crampton really her mother, or something much more sinister than an aerobics-obsessed Jane Fonda clone? And what about that vintage ski outfit she has on?
The Blue Diamond is directed by Sam Fox, her fourth short after colorful, retro-inspired titles like Unagi, Bad Acid, and Fck'n Nuts. She directs from a script by Addison Heimann, with co-stars Emily Ashby, Jadon Cal, and Ethan Daniel Corbett, as well as producers Geenah Krisht, Staples, and executive producer Monique Charbonneau.
The Blue Diamond is currently making its way around the festival circuit, but you can check out a clip from the upcoming short below:
