The call is coming from outside the house and inside your dreams in the new trailer for Scott Derrickson's Black Phone 2.
Hitting theaters on October 17, Black Phone 2 sees the return of stars Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora, with new cast additions Demián Bichir and Arianna Rivas.
Also returning for the Blumhouse sequel is Ethan Hawke as the child-snatching killer known as The Grabber. As the new trailer confirms, The Grabber returns in a Freddy Krueger-like capacity, tormenting kids from the afterlife following his death in The Black Phone:
As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.
Determined to solve the mystery and end the torment for both her and her brother, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm. There, she uncovers a shattering intersection between The Grabber and her own family’s history. Together, she and Finn must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death and more significant to them than either could imagine.
Frequent Derrickson collaborator C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) wrote the script for the sequel, with Joe Hill, author of the original short story The Black Phone is based on, executive producing. Jason Blum, Universal and Crooked Highway Production also producing.
The wintery new trailer today teases some gnarly and creepy Super 8 snippets that Derrickson scared us to death with in both Sinister and V/H/S/85‘s “Dreamkill”, as well as what could be a nod to the 1983 slasher Curtains and the iconic ice-skating kill.
