As though cave diving wasnโt scary enough, Latitude Films is here to make the idea even more terrifying with their latest film, Bone Keeper. Theyโve just revealed the first images from the upcoming project, which stars acting legend John Rhys-Davies, promising an As Above, So Below-esque terror hiding just under the surface.
According to the studio, Bone Keeper โcenters on six friends who enter a remote cave system to investigate the legend of the โBone Keeperโ, only to find themselves being hunted by a mysterious creature that may have inhabited the cave for thousands of years. Will they uncover the truth and escape the creature โ or become the next missing souls?โ Alongside Rhys-Davies, the film also stars Sarah Alexandra Marks, Louis James, Tiffany Hannam-Daniels, Sophia Eleni, Danny Rahim, Tyler Winchcombe, and Sarah T .Cohen, with VFX supervision by Giordano Aita.
Directed by Howard J. Ford, the first images from Bone Keeper prominently feature Rhys-Davies, presumably as an expert in the mysterious entity the core friend group plans to investigate. We also get a good look at the friends descending into a cave system that just screams โdeath trap,โ as well as a burning fire that doesnโt bode well for them.
โIโve always been intrigued with caves and caverns and imagined if something lurked down there in the depths,โ Ford said, โSo I am very excited to be making a creature-feature and reuniting with the REinvent team and not least working with the legendary Mr. John Rhys-Davies, who has been an absolute blast.โ
This isnโt the first time Rhys-Davies, best known for his appearances in the Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones franchises, has starred in a horror film. Heโs also appeared in 2007โs The Ferryman, as well as Prisoners of the Sun and Grizzly II: Revenge, in addition to his extensive voice work.
The team behind the film is planning to reveal the first footage from Bone Keeper at the Cannes Film Festival this month. A release date for the film has not been set. Check out the new images below:
