We all hardly trust Airbnb at this point, right? IfBarbarian didn’t scare you off the prospect of it, then the upcoming thriller Bone Lake certainly will. Having moved its release date back a handful of days — from October 10 to October 24 — Bleecker Street has just released the first trailer for the film, which promises a twisty film filled with plenty of sex, lies, and videotape.
Directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan from a script by Joshua Friedlander, Bone Lake stars Maddie Hasson, Marco Pigossi, Alex Roe, Andra Nechita, Eliane Reis, and Clayton Spencer. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
A couple’s romantic vacation at a secluded lakeside estate is upended when they are forced to share the mansion with a mysterious and attractive couple. In this darkly hilarious and seductive horror story, a dream getaway spirals into a nightmarish maze of sex, lies, and manipulation, bringing terrifying secrets to light and triggering a bloody battle for survival.
The trailer introduces us to the two couples, one of whom seems unbothered by the world, and the other slightly more suspicious. We get to see some of the mysterious mansion as well, which looks far too fancy to be used as a rental property — but what do we know? It doesn’t show us much more than that, but undoubtedly things will spiral out of control quicker than you can say “VRBO.”
Bone Lake is produced by Jason Blumenfeld, Friedlander, Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, and Jacob Yakob. The film premiered at last year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, and currently holds a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes out of twenty reviews written about the “horny thriller” (their words, not mine) from the festival. It was acquired for domestic release in May by Bleecker Street, who’ll also be releasing Spinal Tap II: The End Continues soon — what a combination.
Bone Lake hits theaters on October 24. Check out the new trailer below:
