With Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. and The Hook all confirmed for Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy reboot, one question has plagued fans – will Brandy return as fan-favorite character Karla Wilson from 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer?
In a new interview with People, Robinson remained tight-lipped, but did tease that “You'll have to go see the movie”, suggesting that Brandy's return could be surprise kept well under wraps.
Brandy herself has previously acknowledged that she's “heard some things” about the slasher sequel and that she has been reached out to, reminding us that Karla was still alive at the end of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, reuniting with her best friend Julie James (Hewitt).
Starring alongside Hewitt and Prinze Jr. (and maybe Brandy!) in I Know What You Did Last Summer are Jonah Hauer-King, Madelyn Cline, Alexander Chavez, Lola Tung, Tyriq Withers, and Chase Sui Wonders.
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
Robinson directed from a script co-written by her and Sam Lansky, with Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.) writing the original draft of the screenplay.
Look out for more news on Brandy's potential return as we get it.
