In one of numerous Hellboy spin-offs creator Mike Mignola is currently working on, he’s teamed up with writer and artist Bruce Zick to explore the consequences of time travel, and their gruesome adventure is nearly here. Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time hits shelves next week, and FANGORIA is excited to premiere an exclusive preview of the four-issue miniseries.

Co-written by Mike Mignola and Bruce Zick, with the latter illustrating the series, Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time features letters by Clem Robins, with variant covers by Mignola, Troy Nixey, Ben Stenbeck, and Michael Wm Kaluta. The series’ synopsis is as follows:

On a dark night in 1880s England, the ever-adventurous Whittier family, along with Edward Grey, are attempting to send a man into the realm between reality and the Beyond to free the trapped spirit of a Whittier uncle. But his expedition into space—and time—will take him to places beyond even the Witchfinder’s knowledge. Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time follows an intrepid time-travelling explorer on a journey to a new dimension. He soon discovers that the monsters he encounters aren’t his only problem, as time itself might represent the ultimate danger.

While Mike Mignola is primarily known for his work on the Hellboy universe, Zick made a name for himself both as a comics artist and in animation, working on projects like Hercules, The Iron Giant, The Lion King, The Real Ghostbusters, The Prince of Egypt, and more. His print titles also include Thor, Primordial, and The Bramble, among others.

“This preview shows the end of the Victorian Ghostbusting story sequence and introduces Captain Henry to the Graveyard of Time that he has been accidentally thrust into,” reveals Zick. It's a mysterious dimension of bizarre time artifacts and abandoned and moldering Time Machines from the last 1000 years of temporal exploration. It doesn't make any sense to our good Captain who must now try to survive with his wits and without a single weapon in hand.

“As if this retro tangle of steampunky machinery isn't enough of a challenge to navigate, the Graveyard is populated by dangerous Time Creatures who must destroy any new arrivals. This first beast shown on the last preview page is only the first of many others to follow, who all obey the commands of the lord of this domain–The Time King.”
