Chase Sui Wonders Joins BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Reboot

Original series star Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to the Hulu series in a regular guest role capacity.

Chase Sui Wonders (Bodies Bodies Bodies, I Know What You Did Last Summer) has joined the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot series at Hulu.

Wonders joins original series star Sarah Michelle Gellar who is returning in a guest role capacity, new Slayer Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned, Secret Society of Second Born Royals), Ava Jean (A Week Away, Law & Order: SVU), Sarah Bock (Severance) as Gracie, Daniel di Tomasso (Witches of East End, Major Crimes) and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Oppenheimer, Frasier).

Directed and produced by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals) with Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman (Poker Face) serving as show runners, plot details for the new Buffy are still under wraps.

Here's what Wonders has to say of her casting, per Deadline who reported the news late yesterday:

“Sarah Michelle Geller is just such a force to be reckoned with […] We became fast friends on I Know What You Did last Summer. She’s an incredible woman and just a cool person, and she asked me if I wanted to do it. Then she told me about Chloé Zhao directing and [Nora and Lilla Zuckerman] showrunning. And then Eric Kissack, who is actually our editor on The Studio, is also editing the Buffy series.”

Deadline also reveals that while Wonders can't say much about her character other than that “her name is Shirley and that this will be a one-off guest role.”

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is executive produced by Gellar will along with Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce via Suite B, while country queen Dolly Parton will executive produce via Sandollar. 20th Television and Searchlight Television will produce. No news yet on a release date, but stay tuned!
