Horror Comedy SPIDER ISLAND From TRIANGLE Director Christopher Smith Now In Production

Rose Williams and Tim McInnerny lead an ensemble cast of veteran actors and influencers.

Filming is officially under way on Spider Island, an upcoming horror comedy from Creep and Triangle director Christopher Smith, Deadline confirms today.

Currently filming in Mauritius, Spider Island does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, following a group of social media influencers who go to the launch of a new hotel on a tropical island, where they find deadly spiders.

The ensemble cast includes a mix of veteran actors and influencers, including Rose Williams, Tim McInnerny, Avani Gregg, Owen Warner, Andy Nyman, Lena Mahfouf, Carlotta Banat, and Anuschka Van Lent.

In a statement, Smith spoke excitedly of the project:

“I’ve been searching for the perfect project to balance scares and laughter, and Spider Island delivers. We have a unique mix of real-life creators, actors and a great script to make a comedy-horror for our time.”

Allan Niblo and James Richardson of UK indie outfit Vertigo Films produce, as well as Mike Knowles for Now Films. Jane Moore is executive producer for Vertigo Films.

Vertigo’s James Richardson had this to say:

Spider Island is first and foremost a great comedy horror for audiences around the world […] It’s also an opportunity for a group of very talented actors and filmmakers and a group of very talented social media creators to join forces. The two worlds are still much too far apart, and we want to build a bridge. With spiders.”
