It is downright remarkable how far popcorn bucket technology has come in the past several years. Remember the ancient times when one simply had to eat popped kernels of corn from a buttery cardboard bucket? Those days are long behind us. As further evidence of that, Universal has released this year’s new Chucky popcorn bucket as part of 2024’s Halloween Horror Nights festivities. Whether you’re headed to the park or not, it can now be yours.
The bucket has been spotted by people at Universal Orlando already, even though Halloween Horror Nights doesn’t officially kick off until August 30. It will also be available at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Singapore. Even if you’re not headed to the parks this year, fear not! The bucket is currently available to order online for $43.99. The only upside in the park is that it comes with one free fill of popcorn.

Credit to Universal, they went all out for this one. It features stitching on the face and is based on the doll’s look from Bride of Chucky. The bucket features glowing and blinking eyes. You can also speak to Chucky and he says 3 different phrases including “…from now on.. no more Mr. Good Guy,” “…alright kid…fun's over” and “…sorry kid you got me…I'm bad…(laughing).” It’s just like having a Good Guys doll, only you can eat popcorn out of it. This one also has the added benefit of not killing people, presumably. There was a version of the bucket last year. However, it didn’t include the stitching and looked more like the doll from the original Child’s Play.
Somewhat remarkably, these popcorn buckets have become big business in recent years. The viral Dune popcorn bucket took things to another level. Now, many big movies are getting exclusive buckets to coincide with their release. Warner Bros. recently revealed the impressive Beetlejuice Beetlejuice popcorn buckets that will be available at Regal. That’s just the latest in a long line of such releases, with Cinemark’s Alien: Romulus popcorn bucket also serving as a recent, wild example.
Meanwhile, Chucky is staying busy 35 years into his existence. Chucky season 3 recently wrapped up but, one way or another, he’ll be back. Whether or not we get a fourth season remains to be seen but franchise creator Don Mancini has teased that he’s working on a new Chucky movie as well.
