CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD’s Frendo Terrifies SXSW Attendees During Festival Premiere

Hate that!
CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD

If you’re still not over the unexplained clown invasion of 2016, you may want to look away now, because RLJE Films and Shudder’s stunt for their upcoming slasher Clown in a Cornfield will definitely scare the pants off of you. As a part of the film’s premiere at South by Southwest this week, Frendo the Clown, the mascot-turned-slasher from the film took to the festival to terrify attendees, because operating on no sleep and minimal food at a film festival isn’t scary enough already.

In a newly released video, Frendo (who looks like your typical creepy clown) can be spotted around the streets of Austin, where the festival takes place, plastering posters for the film anywhere he can find — though the posters seem quite threatening, with the words “don’t f**k with Frendo” scrawled across them. Trust us, we’re not planning to!

Directed by Eli Craig, who wrote the film’s script with Carter Blanchard based on Adam Cesare’s young adult novel of the same name, Clown in a Cornfield stars Katie Douglas, Carson MacCormac, Aaron Abrams,Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand. The film’s logline is as follows:

Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.

Clown in a Cornfield premieres in theaters on May 9. Check out Frendo’s invasion of SXSW below:
