Clown in a Cornfield is getting ready to hit theaters, and its murderous slasher mascot, Frendo, is doing everything he can to get the word out. This past weekend, the killer made his way to WonderCon in Anaheim — accompanied by a photographer, of course — to menace attendees, even if it means trying extra hard to stand out amongst hordes of horror cosplayers at the Anaheim Convention Center.
In the newly released images, Frendo stalks con attendees inside the convention center and outdoors, taking photos and menacing anyone who tried to get his way, similar to his invasion of SXSW during the film’s premiere. He even met up with fellow murderous clown Art from the Terrifier franchise — or at least, a cosplayer dressed as him. This all occurred while stars Katie Douglas, Aaron Abrams and Will Sasso, as well as director and co-writer Eli Craig led a panel about the film, which hits theaters next month.
Directed by Craig, who wrote the film’s script with Carter Blanchard based on Adam Cesare’s young adult novel of the same name, Clown in a Cornfield also stars Carson MacCormac and Kevin Durand. The film’s logline is as follows:
Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.
Clown in a Cornfield premieres in theaters on May 9. Check out Frendo’s invasion of WonderCon below:
