Folk Horror Film Event CURSE Heading To Manchester’s CULTPLEX Cinema

The three day event features screenings of THE WICKER MAN, ONIBABA and more.

CULTPLEX cinema is bringing folk horror goodness to Manchester with CURSE, a new three-day event celebrating the mysterious and macabre genre with highlights from around the world.

Taking place from Febuary 28 to March 2, the weekender kicks off with Robin Hardy's 1973 classic The Wicker Man, and also features a special Q&A with producer Jen Handorf (Prevenge) following a screening of The Borderlands (also known as Final Prayer).

Per CULTPLEX:

CURSE is a new weekender that that delves deep into the chilling and mysterious world of folklore cinema, bringing together the eerie, the mystical, and the macabre from across the globe. Focused on horror and cult cinema, CURSE explores how ancient myths, legends, and superstitions have shaped storytelling in different cultures through cinema in the modern age.

We hope our programme highlights the universal and timeless nature of folklore stories, offering audiences a chance to experience both the terror and the beauty of stories passed down through generations! CURSE is where the ancient stories meet our favourite modern medium; where folklore finds its unsettling place on the silver screen!
