As he wraps up his work on the Terrifier franchise, director Damien Leone has set his eyes on his next project. Lionsgate revealed that they’ve picked up Tortures of the Damned, a new film which Leone will write, direct, and produce himself.
No details about the plot of Tortures of the Damned have been released, but we do know that horror veteran Sam Raimi will be producing the film, alongside his partner Rob Tapert as a part of their Ghost House label. If the man behind one of the most beloved horror franchises ever is on board, then it must be a pretty exciting movie, right?
“We’re incredibly proud and excited to be partnering with Damien Leone on his first original film after the beloved Terrifier series,” says Lionsgate’s Erin Westerman. “I join the huge contingency of horror fans—and Damien fans—inside Lionsgate who have been following his work and cheering him on. Damien is a true genre auteur with a singular vision, and we’re thrilled to help bring this bold new project to the screen while continuing to build on the incredible connection he has with fans around the world.”

Producers on Tortures of the Damned also include Scott O’Brien and Pavan Kalidindi for Lionsgate, and Romel Adam and Jose Cañas for Ghost House. Casting for the film has yet to be announced.
Leone is currently in pre-production on Terrifier 4, the final film in his uber-gory slasher franchise starring David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, a sadistic serial killer who just won’t stay dead. The last update we got on the film is that it’ll be taking place around New Year’s Eve, with the script being “close to completion” back in February. Details beyond that are being kept under wraps, but if the other three films are any indication, it’ll definitely be bloody.
No release for Tortures of the Damned has been announced. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
