Scream king Dan Stevens (The Guest, Abigail, Cuckoo) has joined Adam Wingard's “gonzo action horror thriller” Onslaught for A24.
Stevens joins Adria Arjona (Hit Man) in the pic, which was written by frequent Wingard collaborator Simon Barrett (The Guest). UFC champion Alex Pereira is also set to star.
The Hollywood Reporter reveal that plot details for Onslaught are still few and far between, but here's a brief outline:
Arjona is starring as a mother who falls back on a particular set of skills in order to protect her loved ones after she runs afoul of a threat that has escaped a secret military base. Pereira will play a character called The Butcher, and bring his set of skills – including anaconda chokes and roundhouse kicks – to his meaty role.
Furthermore, THR report that Stevens (who, as we learned in Tilman Singer's Cuckoo, is fluent in German) is set to play a German scientist working on the experiments that escape.
Onslaught marks a reunion for Stevens and Wingard, who previously worked together on Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and, of course, 2014's The Guest.
Onslaught adds yet another string to Stevens' extensive genre bow, who has not only starred in two of the best horrors of 2024 but also nabbed himself two further horror roles in the Al Pacino-starring The Ritual and AMC's The Terror: Devil in Silver.
We're big Stevens fans here at FANGORIA and are, frankly, thrilled to see him thriving in the genre. That's all we know about Onslaught for now, but keep your eyes peeled for updates.
